Now Available for Download: Why New Black Venture Capital Funds Will Generate Outsized Returns and Help Close the Racial Wealth Gap – VOLUME II.

Since Culture Shift Labs 2021 report on the venture capital (VC) ecosystem, there has been more progression toward shrinking the VC world’s racial divide, which has come from the much-needed conversation on the lack of Black check-writers.
Currently, our research shows that 92 Black-led VC firms currently have a total AUM of $7.96B.
While we’ve seen important actions being taken toward growing that number, such as more limited partners (LPs) investing in Black-led VC firms, the growth rate of money moving toward Black VCs remains small in comparison to the growth we’ve seen in previous years.
The slow down in growth is an important focus because trends show that more checks written by Black investors will lead to an increase of Black founders; meaning that getting more funding into the hands of Black general partners (GPs) should create more investment opportunities for the VC ecosystem and a more robust economy. This has caught the attention of many VC investors and ecosystem leaders who have committed to the missions of both growing existing Black-led funds and increasing the number of Black GPs.
In this year’s Black VC Report Volume II, we provide an updated look at this activity, who is driving the movement and where it’s happening, and what benefits will be gained by continued growth in the Black VC ecosystem.
